Haunted history is sometimes found in things left behind. Item’s once the treasures of someone, loved an cherished, now nothing but random items found in a museum or yard sale.
We went to Matjiesfontein, a very small and quirky town and even more so is the Marie Rawdon Museum. Here you can find an obscure collection of Victorian bits and pieces.
Housed in the train station, you will be able to see exhibits of items of the Anglo-Boer War, which was fought on this little towns doorstep.
An old cameras, penny farthings, clocks, ancient dentistry tools, dresses, bed pans and plenty of other bric-a-brac is all that is left. That and the spirits still roaming the hotel and surrounding fields, then battlefields.
This vast collection is an odd mix of items and is awfully interesting to peruse through. There is so much to see of the once living and now dead.
